twines Posted November 25, 2023 #1 Posted November 25, 2023 I am trying to ID JOS. VIERHEILIG Munchen. The blade and the handle are in VG condition. The scabbard has some substantial loss in the enamel finish but no dents. It is marked JOS. VIERHEILIG Munchen on the edge, and has excellent scroll work on the blade with the inscripstion IN TREUE FEST "steadfast in loyalty". The handle is snake skin an brass. Any information, dating, use, and value will be appreciated. (I am trying to buy it)
SARGE Posted December 4, 2023 #2 Posted December 4, 2023 The etched name on the spine of the blade is the Munich retailer (Distributor) of the sword. The etched motto is the Bavarian motto and is standard for these swords. It seems this sword was made by WKC in Solingen if I am seeing a knight's helmet marking on the blade. I would say this sword is in the $200. price range. I hope this is helpful.
