I think what you have there is a Brigadier or Substantive Colonel's Staff Officer's Service Dress Cap from the Royal Corps of Signals. The buttons are those of a General Staff Officer. Would be interested in any other opinion. Gunner Attached is a Royal Corps of Signals Field Officers cap for comparison.

Pre 1953, Not Corps specific and not Staff Corp as the Staff is indicated by a red Band.
