SS collar patch

This is a strange one as the buckram is usually brown. I'm imagining that it is a fake? I have, however, read that there is a variation with items made in occupied France that they often have a whiter buckram (don't know if this is proven or just a story to sell fakes). So I'm wandering if this does stand a chance and it's some sort of unofficial or tailored item? It was found in a boot sale a while back for very little money. It looks like it has been damaged and the edges removed? Opinions please?

I’ve had quite a few vet found SS collar tabs over the years but I’ve never seen anything like this.

I too have a decent collection of SS tabs, and this is not like anything I have found.

My own feeling is that it may be theatrical- from a movie or stage costume.
