mbec Posted June 25, 2024 #1 Posted June 25, 2024 I don't know if you find this interesting but I do. Your basic carbine made at Gardone Valtrompia I assume, but has a hammer and sickle engraved in the stock along with some initials. I think the Finns got some rifles from Italy while they were fighting the Russians. Maybe it was captured by the Russians and marked with the soldiers initials and eventually made it back to the states over the decades. all speculation I know, but I thought it is different. Mark
GRILLO Posted June 26, 2024 #2 Posted June 26, 2024 If I had to guess, because it is not Cyrillic writing, it's probably Italian Communist partisans. The B.A.I. R.U.D.B. might be one of the many different red party factions fighting in Northern Italy 1943-1945. Just a guess. Interesting rifle. Thanks for posting.
mbec Posted June 27, 2024 Author #3 Posted June 27, 2024 Thanks Grillo, your theory makes a lot more sense than mine. I didn’t even know there were Italian communists. Man, the older I get the more I learn Mark
danimal03 Posted June 28, 2024 #4 Posted June 28, 2024 Interesting item. I think WWII Italian items are undervalued in the collector world overall. I have pivoted to them in the last few years as a subcategory focus. Thank you for sharing!
