Kriegsmarine DD Transitional

I was chatting with a new acquaintance today, and inevitably I asked about military items. He said, that he had an old German helmet,  I asked to see it, sure, come on inside. There it was....DD Kriegsmarine transitional, in beautiful condition, paint, decals, liner, infact the only damage is a torn strap dated 1938. 

 

The big issue he doesn't sell anything......nothing.

 

First, I'd like opinions please. Im pretty confident in saying it's original, but it's nice to be sure when you're ready to make a large offer. I would really like to add this helmet to my collection.

The national shield is not a decal. It is hand painted.

Also, the eagle decal is Army, not Kriegsmarine, which would be yellow.
