Preppy Picker Posted November 30, 2024 #1 Posted November 30, 2024 My Dutch is not what it used to be
Solution earlymb Posted December 16, 2024 Solution #3 Posted December 16, 2024 It's a paybook from one of the Jager battalions; 'Jager' (literal translation: hunter) is the name in the Dutch army for light infantry since the 18th century, it seems this guy also had the rank of 'jager' (= pvt). The men of Jager units used to be recruited from woodsmen like hunters, hence the name. Some info in Dutch here: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jager_(infanterie) Unfortunately the text on the photo's is too unclear to read much more.
Preppy Picker Posted December 16, 2024 Author #4 Posted December 16, 2024 Thank you for that. earlymb Posted December 18, 2024 #5 Posted December 18, 2024 No idea about value, it is outside my area of expertise. It seems to be in pretty good condition though, how did you acquire it?
