Dave222 Posted December 15, 2024 #1 Posted December 15, 2024 Hi there I’m wondering if anyone could tell me if this German RLB Dagger is 1st model or 2nd model? The handle insignia is missing but there is only one hanger on the scabbard, 2nd model has two hangers on the scabbard? Is there any markings that would identify it as either 1st or 2nd model?
lmrobil Posted December 23, 2024 #2 Posted December 23, 2024 This is a first pattern RLB officers model, 1936/37. Second pattern officers had two hanging rings, starting in 1938. Enlisted models have different pommels, crossguards and scabbards. The only "marking" that would identify it as either first or second pattern would be the missing grip emblem. Lance
Dave222 Posted December 24, 2024 Author #3 Posted December 24, 2024 Hi Lance yes unfortunately it’s missing it’s badge and hanger . Im trying to figure out why the hanger ring is on the left hand side of the scabbard and not on the right as all others i have seen , the dagger only goes in that way which leaves the hanger ring on the left side and no screws on the scabbard have been touched? bit of a mystery!
Preppy Picker Posted December 24, 2024 #4 Posted December 24, 2024 Was the dagger taken apart and put back together incorrectly?
Dave222 Posted December 24, 2024 Author #5 Posted December 24, 2024 Not that I know of and doesn’t looked tampered with.
