WW2AviationHistorian Posted March 12 #1 Posted March 12 I happened to come into possession of a stone that someone thought looked interesting and I agree it is very odd if it was naturally formed. Can anyone help me tell what it is/ when it was made or if it is just a cool rock. Any opinions would be helpful!
S.ChrisKelly Posted March 13 #3 Posted March 13 If it's metal, it's likely a canonball. If it's stone, it's a cool rock. (Maybe it's a ball bearing for a main battle tank sized monster truck. The key to its identity is likely its origin ~ where it was originally found).
SGT Wade Posted March 13 #6 Posted March 13 Even if it is just a rock, it is a very cool rock that I would have loved as a kid.
Gear Fanatic Posted March 15 #7 Posted March 15 that's a very round rock... Agreed I also would've been pretty happy to find that regardless of origin LOL
S.ChrisKelly Posted March 15 #8 Posted March 15 ("WW2AviationHistorian"... Did you ever find out what that thing is?") (Now that we're all in agreement... that...)
WW2AviationHistorian Posted April 25 Author #9 Posted April 25 I’m going to mark it down as a neat rock thanks for the help!
cageybee91 Posted April 27 #10 Posted April 27 Moqui marble also known as a Shaman stone. https://geology.utah.gov/map-pub/survey-notes/glad-you-asked/moqui-marbles/
mikie Posted April 27 #12 Posted April 27 In the early days of artillery, cannonballs were made of rounded stone. I’m not saying at all that this is one of them, but it’s an interesting historical fact 🤔 anyway . mikie
