Exoticitems1920 Posted March 14 #1 Posted March 14 Hello, I have a few mannequins I like to put uniforms on in my house (who doesn't? Haha). Anyway I always thought a police uniform would be great for one of these. I found this on a website of a company that seems reliable and it looks legit but I am not an expert (i have read "detecting the fakes" and a few other books) Any opinions and thoughts would be great before I make a purchase.
Rakkasan187 Posted March 14 #2 Posted March 14 I don't see any obvious glaring issues, but closer examination of the tunic (maker tag and other details on the inside of the tunic needed) Stamps on the leather belt and cross straps as well as the metal clips.. The shako maker label and if there is a way to remove the shako eagle to see the maker mark on the backside... Just some of the areas I would like to see more details in order to make a more informed decision. If all original, a very nice uniform that I would be happy to add to my collection Just my thoughts... Leigh
Preppy Picker Posted March 14 #3 Posted March 14 Like Leigh at a glance it all looks pretty good. One thing that concerns me are the unlined sleeves. I think someone might have changed the shoulder boards and didn’t finish the job. Both sleeves have this same unfinished look. 1 minute ago, Preppy Picker said: Like Leigh at a glance it all looks pretty good. One thing that concerns me are the unlined sleeves. Exoticitems1920 Posted March 14 Author #4 Posted March 14 The place selling it did mention the lining had been removed for what it's worth. Here is the description: Original Polizei Tunic, Shako and Belt of a WWII German Rural Gendarmerie. An exquisite grouping that displays in a truly fantastic manner. The Shako is made by Robert Lubstein/EREL and is a Size 57 ½. The tunic is for a Meister and is about a size 38. Both ribbons are included. Sleve linings have been removed. Possibly done by the original owner. Cuff buttons were are held on by safty pins. The parade stylem belt is made by and marked Ekso Prima. Size 96. Aluminum Polizei buckle is unmarked. The cross strap is SS marked. Not sure if that adds anything or not to go off of. I really appreciate the feedback!
Rakkasan187 Posted April 9 #6 Posted April 9 Based on what I am seeing, it looks like a decent uniform with accouterments. Unfortunate the liner was removed but since it is on the inside it won't distract from displaying Leigh
Woldw1woldwa2 Posted April 16 #7 Posted April 16 The belt shake and insignia looks good and authentic except the tunic because of the unlinked sleeves.
