Howdy all...

I professionally assist seniors downsizing their home. many times I sign and assist Veterans who have no family. Most of them have war-related items/collectibles that can be sold on Ebay without any issues. However, I just signed a Veteran who has a very extensive collection of military items that spans from WWI to the Korean War. However, a majority of it is scarce German Third Reich Photos, postcards, Military press releases and letters to home & more! And that is what he has showed me thus far. He stated that he was over 5000+ pieces, so we'll see.

If anyone is interested, please let me know. I'm going to try and figure out how to do sales in this group.

Look forward to chatting with you all...

Thanks!

Alan

You have to have so many posts to list items for sale. Simply make a comment on some of the posts here on the forum, and you should have not problems. Dave

Thank You for the heads up

Third Reich letters, photos, postcards, stamps, coins, and the like can all be sold on eBay with no issue. Best of luck to you and the veteran.  Scott

Welcome to the WMF, Alan! Referring to our forum rules and as Ivydiv has already pointed out members must have al least 30 substantive posts before the system will allow the member to post in the sale, trade or wanted section.

Really? I was told that any German item showing a Swastika would be removed, and if reposted, the seller could be suspended.

Yes, thank you for the relayed message.

How is the (30) posts defined? As replies?  Actual Postings?

That’s not my experience, all my postcards and magazines were taken down by eBay considered propaganda.

That is what I heard while researching that possibility.

If the insignia is on it and someone can be offended, they will take it down.

Lately I've seen a ton of TR stuff on eBay for sale, badges and all. Full Swaz. I was shocked!

As soon as I post something similar I get caught, so I don’t break the rules. Last year I posted a modern ju52 model with a swas on the tail. I hadn’t even thought about it. Within a few hours it was pulled

I think it boils down to the algorithm or if you are on their radar to be watched.  I saw some of these as well, in addition to folks who actually pulled off a 7-day auction to success on those items.

A real headscratcher

LOL...you sound like me. We must be on their radar to watch.

It's certainly interesting so I'm watching it to see how long so many people are allowed to sell. A friend of mine has had a bunch of stuff on eBay for sale and has no problems for several weeks. I've seen a couple nice IAB's sell recently, but the bidding has been too high for me, even above Dealer prices.

There is a ton of it, I can’t believe it. eBay has been on a self policing sort of honor system where someone who is offended reports it. Apparently no one is offended.

Like I said earlier I had a modern diecast ju52 with a swas on the tail removed by eBay because of the offending mark. What kind of Nazi magazines are allowed? None in my experience but you go on eBay and see this large flag for sale.

Good for the seller. I wonder why the higher prices all of sudden.

And there is another one up there as well. I don't get the inconsistency as I would have thought would have resulted in a quick take down.

I'm thinking the bidding war simply gets people paying more.

And many of them turn into non paying bidders.

I reported the listing 2 days ago and it’s still running.

And the mystery of how and why certain folks get away with it over others

The flag was flagged. eBay sent me a message letting me know.

Wow, a really substantive thread re eBay ... many quite right comments.  I've been on fleabay since 1997 and remember the days when you COULD list 3rd Reich memorabilia/collectibles; now long gone, obviously. The main issue seems to me not to be who can "get away with it and who can't." I know they have a staff surveying listings searching for prohibited items; in the past I found them to be tech savvy west coasters with poor judgement.  E.G. I posted a foul weather suit as being "frog skin" which was the trade name.  Yeah, they pulled it within hours because frogs were an endangered species.  When I actually got one of the children on the phone it was impossible to get it through to them ... it devolved that you simply can't use the term.  I listed a set of pistol grips as "FAUX IVORY," and yeah you got it, they pulled within one hour of my posting ... the rationale was that since ivory is prohibited they wouldn't allow anything remotely using the name.  When I pointed out the 3000 other posts using the the word simply meant nothing to them.

That was the in-house crew, however, apparently there is a well-established cadre from the public/followers who take it upon themselves to "police" the site regularly for any of a number of their pet peeves.  Hate to say it but apparently the "golden rule" prevails ... "he with the gold, rules."

Cheers, Allen

Sorry for the long delay in my response. It was a hell of a month. The whole family got Covid, each taking around 7 days to feel better. I was the last one and just started to feel myself again today.
