War in Pacific Posted May 7, 2025 #1 Posted May 7, 2025 Hi, I'm looking for a Japanese Type 90 helmet. I was told Dan Griffin had posted (years ago?) a comprehensive piece on the Type 90 helmets. What to look for & what to avoid. Could you and / or anyone help me?
Preppy Picker Posted May 7, 2025 #2 Posted May 7, 2025 I looked through all of Griffins posts and while he has commented on Japanese helmets i cannot find a thread that he started about Japanese helmets.
War in Pacific Posted May 7, 2025 Author #3 Posted May 7, 2025 Thank you prepper I appreciate that. Actually learning a lot by looking at examples of bona-fide original helmets both sold & unsold on Dan's site
War in Pacific Posted June 6, 2025 Author #4 Posted June 6, 2025 Appreciate the time taken to help me get up to speed on Type 90 helmets & the research done regarding Dan Griffin. I'm still looking for a helmet & am getting better at separating the the good from the bad. While looking through Griffin's site I saw a few Yosegaki Hinomaru which were nice & this one which I bought. It has a named flag, a soldiers booklet also named to the flag, an armband (Staff Cook) and recruitment sash (Military Personnel). The flag has holes at each of the corners, spilled inkspots & some redish brown stains (origin unknown).
