gunnerde Posted May 23, 2025 #1 Posted May 23, 2025 Hello everyone! I have a pair of trousers that I'm pretty confident are military, but I am having a hard time identifying them. The material appears to be a sort of twill, and is fairly rough in feel. It has a button fly and buttons secure the belt loops. It has white draw strings on the cuffs of the pant legs. It has the two conventional front hip pockets and no others. The only tag I can find is the one with the poorly stamped markings, which are photographed here. I see no evidence of any labels, and it doesn't appear that there were any external pockets removed at any point (I can't say for sure, though). There are faint stamps and pencil markings on the inside, especially between the pocket and the seat- I'll attach pics where I messed with the saturation and color balances to try to bring them out in the comments. Does anyone have any idea what these might be? I've seen Spanish trousers with a similar style of waist and fly, but those have side pockets and knee reinforcements. The overall feel kind of suggests it could be Chinese or some other Asian origin. I also understand these could be a civilian piece. Still, any help is appreciated! Here are the heavily processed pictures of the pencil marking and stamping that I described. The stamp is along the inside of the waist.
gunnerde Posted May 24, 2025 Author #2 Posted May 24, 2025 An update on this: I have done some investigating, and I have seen some Saddam-era Iraqi trousers with similar features, especially the belt loops and the button fly. Many of those pants had additional pockets, and these ones seem very cheaply made compared to most on the market. Does anyone know if I'm barking up the right tree?
Solution Nkomo Posted June 11, 2025 Solution #3 Posted June 11, 2025 I agree with these being most likely Iraqi. My bet is most likely post Desert Storm time frame (OIF era).
