I think you missed the point, these are Austrian soldiers and its right after the annexation.   Scott

My point is that is not the NSDAP eagle but the army eagle. I do agree that the swastika is NSDAP.

If a pre-war Austrian tunic showed up at a show with a breast eagle on it, I doubt anyone would believe it!  Neat photo.

Same for the police. Just add a cap badge.

I would  imagine all these serving Austrian Soldiers, Officers included, had to do a lot of readjusting, even as simple as changing the way they stood at Attention, and of marching Deusches Heer way, Presenting Arms etc etc

A  Panzermann wears a tunic over his Black uniform, looks like the cotton summer version rather then wool no?

A real nice view of the tunic, a Victory Parade in Poland, maybe the big one in Warsaw.

Here's one, unit IDed, Gebirgs Nachrichten-Abteilung 67 formed from österreichisches Telegraphen-Bataillon 6 Innsbruck, Signals Battalion 67 is apart  of the 2nd Mountain Division, though it lacks the Edelweiss Badge on the arm.

Another one, another Gebirgs Division one. Makes me wonder if the only troops to wear the modified and or insignia upgraded Austrian Tunics were strictly those former Austrian troops who were  now in a Division formed from the Austrian Army, or did these tunics so modified and or insignia uprated tunics see wide distribution within the Heer as a whole, in example troops of the Berlin formed 3rd Panzer Division, the Cologne raised 26th Infantry Division, the Darmstadt raised 9th Infantry Division etc etc

Another nice transitional Austrian tunic.

Austrian tailors continued to make distinctive German tunics after the Anschluss.  Their tailoring was distinctive as they continued to make very scalloped pocket flaps which can be spotted a mile away.  Or... at least one or two aisles away at a militaria show.  Another give away is the short skirts on the rear of the tunics that carried over from WWI.

Here is an Austrian made tunic for an active duty Polizei Officer.  Notice the pockets and the long point collar.
