JonnyTwelve Posted July 3 #1 Posted July 3 Found this Arisaka bayonet a few months ago. I am infinitely amazed by what is still out there in the world. I have bought M1 helmets from Greece and North American canteens from Africa. I found an Arisaka type 30 bayonet in a barn in the middle of the U.S. surrounded by cows. Every "thing" I find is a lesson from the past. I have told myself and my children that I collect these things for learning purposes. It is a shame on me and us that history seems to repeat over and over and over and over, but there never seems to be any learning involved. I am starting to think that I don't want to collect these weapons of war anymore. If I could have my wish I would buy the whole world beers and pints and watch the stars. Here is the bayonet I found in a barn surrounded by cows who were only interested in grazing. I hope you have a great night tonight wherever you are located on this pale blue dot.
shemp h. Posted July 4 #2 Posted July 4 Holy s!!t you found that in a barn! That's in beautiful condition especially the frog with the early brass buckle. I would search the rest of the barn to see if there is anything else hidden in there.😍 Bill
SARGE Posted July 5 #3 Posted July 5 Nice find! Bill is quite right about the frog. These are usually quite damaged and aged.
mikie Posted July 6 #4 Posted July 6 Are you sure the cows were only interested in grazing? One of them may be a militaria collector. And yes, that frog looks to be in incredible condition. mikie
