Picked this up recently. Can someone tell me what country, pistol and era it ties too?

Looks like a U S. soldier wrote his name on the flap and his 8 digit serial number on the inside of the flap. Thanks!

Looks to be for a Webley .450 short service revolver. It is missing the leather shoulder strap but otherwise it looks to be in great condition.  The link below shows a similar holster claiming to be from the Boer War era, but the Webley pistol was used much later than the Boer war.. Perhaps the holster design changed...
