Rich,I think it is Italian but does anyone know the significance of the collar insignia beyond the 96th infantry

    Italian and yes 96th Infantry Regiment, the collar tabs will identify the division the regiment was assigned to at the time the photo was done. Scott

Bologna? Piemonte? Sabauda? A few units used that pattern of collar insignia.  Rich A. in Pa.

I do not know if this is in your possession & is yours, but I have two suggestions:

1. Check the back of the photo for any information (unless, of course the photo has been professionally “sealed” on the back).

2. Scan the photo and look to see what is attached to the lower sections of the collar tabs(looks like there is something there).

I do own it, the back is sealed and on the bottom are stars

Appears it is the “Udine Brigade”.
