dcbrown Posted September 23, 2025 #1 Posted September 23, 2025 Foreign medals are not my forte', but I could not pass this one up. Just acquired it and cannot decypher the unit. It is marked to: "Pte. J. H. HAMILTON. MEAFORD R. Co.". The "R. Co." baffles me. Thanks for any help.
dcbrown Posted September 24, 2025 Author #2 Posted September 24, 2025 Just to clarify, I didn't think the Canadian militias were organized as regiments in 1866. So, I did not think this could be Co. R of some unnamed Meaford regiment. But I may very well be wrong and that is precisely what this means - R Company. If so, is it possible to determine what Meaford regiment Hamilton was with? Hope that made sense.
