easterneagle87 Posted February 25 #1 Posted February 25 Saw this dagger for sale. Says it's 11 inches. Is it real? OR Fantasy. An ID would be great if possible.
Mr.Jerry Posted February 27 #3 Posted February 27 I've got nothing...I like the carved grip, and shape of the blade, scabbard etc. The one cross-guard looks crudely repaired. Seems real whatever it is, but I can't find anything that looks like that. Not even close. How much is it? If cheap enough, I would take a chance.
SARGE Posted February 27 #4 Posted February 27 Looks like a parts dagger made up of bits and pieces to me. Certainly not German.
easterneagle87 Posted February 28 Author #5 Posted February 28 Got a couple more pictures. The only thing that I might of thought it was early German, certainly not TR period, was the Lions head on the handle.
lmrobil Posted February 28 #6 Posted February 28 The grip is reminiscent of a US eagle head sword but I'm not aware of the US using a lion head pommel although lion heads were used extensively in Europe. The scabbard looks navy with the rope bands and the drag at the end looks Japanese or Chinese. Could just be a mish mash of parts. Lance
