Make sure that the frame is not painted which could cause off-gassing after a while. There are a few frame shops that offer archival type frames that are made of material that will not off-gas..   Glad the ironing worked out for you...   Best regards   Leigh

Thank you for your input Leigh. I was thinking along the same lines as you. Before getting your message I tried well aersoled water. Certainly didn't expect it to work as well & fast as it did. One of the worst areas of the flag cleaned up the best (pics). My next challenge will to get just enough pressure from the back to hold the flag to the class before turning to to more involved solutions. While I do have archival back board the glass us not UV, this shouldnt be a problem since it's not near windows

I was away from my PC so I couldn´t answer your question earlier. Depicted is an early West German Bundeswehr "Regenmantel" (raincoat) produced in 1959. These coats were worn by all ranks. They were replaced by a new coat in the 1980´s. Hope this helps.

I would use very low heat on an iron and some steam, but I would let the steam seep through a towel or other type of cloth to form a barrier between the flag and the direct heat. Don't use too high a temperature but looking at the material it looks not to be silk but more of a cotton cloth so you will be alright.   Framing wise I would also place this on an acid free matte and use archival plexi for the cover.   Leigh

Hi all, I'm framing a yosegaki hinomaru. This flag is battle worn it has areas where it is folded up on itself. I'd like to get those areas to lay flat. Is there anything you'd suggest? Thank you

Both are nice FW helmets.  I agree that the leather neck guard is one of the hardest pieces to find.       Here is an example of the metal comb on a leather FW helmet.  Notice the crossed axes and supervisor fancy comb on the front badge (plate) for a high ranking fireman.

I saw an article about RAF regiment gunners who have earned the title of “drone aces” for shooting down drones. Will there be a new award for this?   https://www.independent.co.uk/bulletin/news/raf-drone-ace-shot-down-b2947809.html?utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=related&utm_campaign=embed1

Will Ferrell as Franz Liebkind in the 2005 Remake of The Producers, this time around unlike the original 60s movie a mock up one is worn.   With Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane of course,

Nice helmet,   Here is my Feuerwehr Helmet with aluminum comb and leather neck guard for comparison. The neck guards are some of the more difficult pieces to find. Chinstrap on mine is the only thing that is not intact.    Leigh

Nice helmet.    This is a Feuerwehr (FW) helmet designed for the fire fighter.  Notice the Police eagle decal has the bright edging on the shield decal where the Polizei helmet typically does not.  The liner is also designed for firemen, made with leather tabs to attach the leather neck shield to keep the water and fire debris from entering the collar.  It also has the leather pad in the crown of the helmet to cushion headaches from falling debris. One will also find these FW helmets with a bright metal fin on the top for supervisors.

My understanding is that if it had a SN and the SN was removed, the gun is illegal. If it was manufactured without a SN then it is legal.
