A bit late, I know!  But I had 23 of these guys as a kid and ended up trading them away for some medals including a King and Queen's South African pair while I was in the UK back in the 1990's. -Ski

I’m beginning to believe this may be a lost cause. I say this due to several posts I’ve read in a few sites where a few have attempted to get ahold of various archival holdings (which I gather are similar to the U.S.’ NARA) and they’ve gotten nothing except suggestions to visit the holdings in person (a Balkan excursion is not a remote desire of mine, nor am I seeking to pay person(s) to go either). And that’s the best case scenario. Others have said due to the “age” and various political issues and movements of documents over the decades post-WW1, the vast majority of passbooks were either destroyed by the A-H Empire or since they were the personal possession of the sailor or soldier, they were lost to time. I guess I’m lucky to have come across one with a photo and letters.   Does anyone out there have any KUK Marine passbooks? If so, please share.

here is an interesting article link.   https://nypost.com/2015/06/27/meet-the-man-who-owns-the-worlds-largest-nazi-collection/   But the gist of it is that Third Rich collector Kevin Wheatcroft crawled down into the ruins of the Berghof bowling alley in 1989 and this is what he reported:   “They were Hitler’s (Wheatcroft is referencing some wine racks),” he said, laying a proprietary hand upon the nearest one. “We pulled them out of the ruins of the Berghof [Hitler’s home in Berchtesgaden] in May 1989. The whole place was dynamited in ’52, but my friend Adrian and I climbed through the ruins of the garage and down through air vents to get in. You can still walk through all of the underground levels. We made our way by torchlight through laundry rooms, central heating service areas. Then a bowling alley with big signs for Coke all over it. Hitler loved to drink Coke. We brought back these wine racks.”

hello, I will caveat that I know almost nothing about asbestos products.  I went ahead and asked AI about asbestos labels.  That answer basically was that yes, they were made.  But those labels seem to have been reserved for high heat industrial items, i.e. welding aprons, furnace related items, etc.  Regular household items usually did not have an asbestos label.   I understand the concern here.  Maybe someone else with more experience on labels will chime in.... cheers!
