These circles look like spot welds to hold the loop on. I don't like that they show through from back to front. I also don't like the prongs or the leather tab. We have some buckle collectors that have more expertise than I. Let's see what they say. -

i collect a few buckles. Saw this one and it looked good in some ways but ....... only steel Reichsbahn buckles i have seen seem to have been chrome/ nickel plated. This one shows no signs of ever having been shiny. Stamping looks pretty crisp. Corrosion/dirt seems older than last week. Paper thin leather tab with poor stitching and thin leather .... could that mean late WW2 ? Any insights on this one would be much appreciated. -

I think the religious tones of this piece are interest. The St. George engraving and the fact this item involves the territory of the "Holy Land" makes me think of that maybe the engraver was thinking of the Crusades? -
