So, my wife and I went to the Allentown gun show yesterday and I found an awesome British Army DCM medal group. The only drawback was that the soldier was from the Army Service Corps instead of an infantry unit. So I looked it over carefully, checking for any red flags, i.e. renamed medals, replacements etc. It was perfect. So we stepped away to see if i had enough cash and looked at a couple more tables before heading back to get the group. Well, the dealer at one of those tables already had the group behind his table looking at it. That quick! I was completely heartbroken. Anyways the dealer let me take a photo of it. My wife told me that she a has never saw me so disappointed this much before. This sucks! Ugh! -Ski -

This is an original color print entitled, “In Einem Soldatenheim” (In a soldier’s home). The print itself measures 37.5cm x 32.5cm (approx. 14 3/4”x12 3/4”). After a bit of cursory research, I discovered this is an art plate print and represents just one of at least 52 (that I can find, anyway) color prints in a series from 1942 entitled “Das Heer im Grossdeutschen Freiheitskampf" (The Army in the German Struggle for Freedom) which was aimed at being available specifically for the interests of German youth. The photo plates were originally stored in an art style folder. The series of plates were prints of color photographs taken by German Army war correspondents, and published by Förster & Borries of Zwickau, Germany. Updated info from MR Bushido: There was an error in the kanji I provided earlier. The correct name is "長州住清次". -

Very happy to see this thread because I just ordered a canteen from China and I got one of these blue cap canteens sent to me. I was going to post it but have had too much going on. When I get the chance I can post mine as it has Chinese writing on the carrying strap. -

I recently acquired this Japanese short sword. It's 24 1/4 inches from top of handle to bottom of the scabbard. It's not pretty, and has seen some abuse. It appears a bad job to "sharpen" it happened as well. The overall length, is 24 1/4 inches from top of handle to bottom of the scabbard. Here are the photos I got from the seller. I can't get the little peg out of the handle and I won't attempt to pry it out. I did contact members on the WMF and here is what I got back. The tang inscription on the sword means "【長州住清重】Choshu-ju-Kiyoshige". Another forum member commented that it looked like a civilian wrap, but looks very old. What I would like to find out is: Possible age and what was its purpose. Appreciation in advance,
