Nice helmet, Here is my Feuerwehr Helmet with aluminum comb and leather neck guard for comparison. The neck guards are some of the more difficult pieces to find. Chinstrap on mine is the only thing that is not intact. Leigh -

Nice helmet. This is a Feuerwehr (FW) helmet designed for the fire fighter. Notice the Police eagle decal has the bright edging on the shield decal where the Polizei helmet typically does not. The liner is also designed for firemen, made with leather tabs to attach the leather neck shield to keep the water and fire debris from entering the collar. It also has the leather pad in the crown of the helmet to cushion headaches from falling debris. One will also find these FW helmets with a bright metal fin on the top for supervisors. -

My understanding is that if it had a SN and the SN was removed, the gun is illegal. If it was manufactured without a SN then it is legal. -

an all original very decent Police helmet (very common) that came home with many vets after the war. it has the usual color, decals and liner stamped 54, in the neck guard there is a stamp that looks like a diamond shape, other then that there are no other stamping in the shell. -

black paint, army decal, full liner stamped 57, chin strap, neck guard number 817, side number appears to be E164, tip chin strap dated 1941, named to ROTH-OGEFR, steel liner band date high up can't see it, stamping in dome worn very faint. THIS MY BE A REISSUED HELMET--- all 3 split pins have the washers on them before the bending back of the shafts. -
