These aren't rare per say, but I was happy to snag one in a trade some 20 years ago. I found a box for it at a boot sale (flea market) which I was trilled to find. I laughed when I found the box as you just don't see them pop up like that. There is no good solid way to date these with the exception of the Type 1 version which has a different ribbon and details on the medal. This one is gilded which helps date it to WWII. Modern ones are bare metal.
