If you thought that the "Roaring Twenties" was wild viewing this series about the "anything goes" attitude in Berlin will change your mind about what "wild" is. There were (2) seasons of (8) episodes released in Germany, but in the US it's lumped together as 'season 1' of (16) episodes. March 6, 20206 yr Author #6 Season 3 of Babylon Berlin is now out on Netflix. I watched the first episode last night and it was excellent. A continuation of the gritty police story with the same characters and yet another murder to be solved. Highly recommended.

March 7, 20206 yr Author #9 Love the officer's 1907 Dreyse pistol. I have one. Yep, This example is a 1907 Dreyse that was carried over from the Imperial German Polizei (property marked on the side of the frame) to the time of the Weimar Republic (property marked on the slide and grip strap).

With no spoilers, there are plenty of twists and turns, supposed friends becoming enemies, and unexpected alliances. Even though it is fiction, it gives a window into the chaos of the Weimar years.

July 7Jul 7 #15 Let me add a little Weimar era GEIST From 1930 Lotte Lenya Mack the Knife from the 1928 play The Three Penny Opera , Auf Deutsch Die Dreigroschenoper the lied Mackie Messer. Lenya played Jenny Diver on stage and screen, she didn't sing the song in either the play or the 1931 film but simply recorded it independently here in 1930. Play opened in Berlin 13 August 1928: Theater am Schiffbauerdamm.

This regiment appears to have received recruits from different regions of the Rhineland and Westphalia, it was stationed in Alsace as garrison troops since 1871 but did not receive recruits there.
