SS dog tags? And are they police?

Would this be an SS dog tag? I am sure of the age and when/where it was found so I know it is a German made item from the WWII timeframe. A US GI took this and some other items from a few detained soldiers.

This identification tag indicates the "SS-Polizei Division".  This was an SS Division made up entirely of Police personnel.  Like the other SS Divisions made up of volunteers such as Italians, French, etc. they were considered to be Waffen-SS soldiers.  This particular division began by wearing W-SS uniforms with Polizei insignia but changed over time to wearing W-SS uniforms and insignia with a distinctive "SS-Polizei Division" cuff band.  

 

Not a simple answer I am afraid.
