What is an sks worth? I was curious because sometimes I videos on YouTube of people walking around flea markets and sometimes there's an sks for sale. The highest one I remember was $5000. I also saw someone say In a video that there worth $500 and and read somewhere else that there worth around $300. Then I saw one at the flea market for $800. So I've become curious as to what their actual value is since there is such a big difference between the highest price and the lowest I've seen. 

 

Depends on manufacturers, I bought my Chinese ones online under 300, nothing fancy just 1968 dated military issue. My local gun shop usually sells then in the 400 range up to 600 range

Country of origin and matching parts will determine sometimes the wide price range... I have a Yugoslavian SKS,, I think I paid $300 at the time..

That's what I was guessing, not very familiar with firearms. Though I find older military surplus rifles interesting but having a low budget means most are to expensive for me.

Nice Soviet SKSs seem to bring the most money.  Though I have noticed a drop on these.  A few years ago I saw these near 1k.  There is a nice 1952 dated currently for sale at $800 at a dealer's site and it has not sold yet. So I would guess it would move at around $700.

 

I have a near mint 1953 dated Soviet one.  I bought it in 1996 for $200.  That was when they were deemed a curio and relic and they flooded into the country...

the expensive ones could be rare models like the East German SKS , North Vietnam war trophy with capture papers , North Korean capture with papers , those would still be valuable without the original war trophy papers

 

a common surplus Chinese SKS with import markings would probably have the lowest value in the $300 price range

 

back in the 1980's 1990's they were dirt cheap on the surplus market around $60 - $69 each brand new unissued were $99 ea
