Salvage Sailor Posted November 11, 2018 #1 Posted November 11, 2018 Aloha Everyone, This was among my grandfathers papers He was a guest aboard His Imperial Japanese Majesty's Ship ASAMA, veteran of the Russo-Japanese war, in New York harbor two weeks before the stock market crash in 1929. Check out the name of the host - Vice-Admiral K. Nomura He became the Japanese ambassador to Washington in December 1941 who delivered the 'dastardly' message to Cordell Hull too late..... vostoktrading Posted January 4, 2019 #4 Posted January 4, 2019 Salvage, That's a fantastic family-connection piece. Here's a photo of Asama making a visit to New Zealand in the 1920's.
