Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted May 11, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2019 Not sure where to put this, sorry if it is in the wrong location. I was gifted this by a fellow collector, I like it!
MECHINF-A15 Posted May 16, 2019 Share #2 Posted May 16, 2019 Nice leaflet and thank you for sharing! Attached is one I picked-up in Tay Nihn province near the Cambodian border, 1970. This area was a main crossing point for NVA coming across the border. The PYSOPS boys must have flown over and dumped "bushel baskets" of these out the night before. The ground was completely littered with them! At the time we were on a C-RAT diet and the small amount of toilet paper supplied with the ration pack was never enough. We would gather them up and use them for TP. This one I have attached I mailed home to my late father as I thought he would get a chuckle out of our use as TP. One of our KIT CARSON SCOUTS translated it for me but I've long forgotten what happened to it. The front

Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted May 21, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted May 21, 2019 That is too funny, thanks for the story. I have to wonder how effective these leaflets really were
MECHINF-A15 Posted May 23, 2019 Share #5 Posted May 23, 2019 CAP CAMO, Thank you for your reply. For the NVA I would say they had no effect what so ever. They probably used them as TP as well! For the VC they were more willing to CHIEU HOI if they fell into U.S. hands captured or wounded. . All the best, Mike
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted May 24, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted May 24, 2019 Mike, I asked my Vietnamese friend what it said. This is his reply: (front) What will you choose for new year? Peace, happiness or death? The "year of the dog" is coming back to the Vietnamese race! Everybody are happily return to their families for new years eve. How many new years eve have you been leaving your family? For whom you are sacrificing for? I am sure it's not for your fellow Southern countrymens, because everybody down here are peacefully waiting for new years eve, as they are surrounded by their loving families. (back) You are sacrificing (yourselves) far from home, far from your families just for the crazy ambitions of Communist North Vietnam leaders who would like to at once put these Southern regions in the "circle of reliance" of International Communism! This New Years Eves brings hopes to everybody, you too. Peace has shown itself on the horizon, and this "Year of The Dog" will soon bring bright future for all of our countrymens, if you soon willing to choose (the right path). This New Years Eves, head to peace and determine yourself a bright, worthwhile future. The path to Chieu Hoi (Recall) by the Republic of Vietnam Government certainly will help you choose this path. We honestly wish you success. George
