SARGE Posted October 18, 2019 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2019 Gents, Here is a cased example of a DDR Army General Officer dagger. These gilt daggers are very similar to the Navy Officer dagger except they have a different pommel with an East German state symbol on the top of the pommel. The other difference is in the gilt bullion faced hangers. The backing is in different colors for General Officers. The backing is red for Army Generals and other colors such as green for Grenzer Generals, etc exist. Lastly, these daggers are in a separate serial number range that is stamped on the ricasso of the blade. These General Officer daggers were presented in a plush lined red box that held the dagger and complete hanger and belt loop. This particular dagger also came with the quality warranty from the maker that normally accompanied East German daggers. Bear in mind that some of these daggers were assembled from NOS existing parts after the fall of the wall in order to sell them to Western collectors.
