Fresh from the States perhaps the Iron Cross was painted on this M7B2 in America for deliverty?

I can’t take any credit for the above title/description. I’ve recently been searching for information about a camouflage parka I’ve had for many decades, and came across an individual on several sites to which I do not belong, who uses the name of “Steve” as part of his moniker. From what I’ve read, “Steve” seems quite knowledgeable with early Austrian camo and I hope he sees this if he’s a member here and will comment in detail. Therefore, although I am posting, my description of this parka is truly based on his explanations I’ve located, and hope that if there is an error, it is my own misunderstanding of what he has already written in various forums. This Austrian “pea dot” parka was manufactured in quantity in 1959 (although some were made in 1958) and is considered “transitional” in terms of how short of timespan they were made and “has some features of the KAZ57, but also some of KAZ59.” This example has the ghosting (pics outside & inside) of what was a small cloth nameplate (measuring 6cmx1.5cm). “Steve” states nameplates were “very rarely worn” (on the parkas), but if so, “on the front of the uniform over the left breast pocket.” Without getting into the weeds, and failing to comprehensively explain pre-transitional and post-transitional parkas of this type, I can only stick with my example and hope someone who is fully educated in these can chime in. I believe the parkas made prior to this had foliage loops on the upper chest and (I believe) did not have epaulettes. The parkas made after the transitional period had covered buttons and no substantial amount of snaps, as the only buttons in the “transitional” are located inside the lower pockets and the two interior chest pockets. An additional feature on the transitional was that of a tailpiece which could be left snapped to the inside lower portion of the parka or snapped to the front between the legs, essentially creating leg holes. From information I have found, this is not an airborne piece; it is only to secure the parka to keep it from potentially “riding up” when the soldier was equipped with their gear.

An M18 or M16 on a Polish Fighter during the Warsaw Uprising, this helmet which seems to have a Polish Flag or Pennant painted on it, could either be one captured from the Germans or old Polish Army stores they got their hands on, as the Army used the type in 20s-30s.

Don't think I posted this yet. Was issued in WW2 and the RCAF used it into the 1960's

y Something is going on with the site. Any who, I primed the Panther in the German dark red, then airbrushed it in a dark Yellow Ochre. That's because I was low on Dark Yellow and didn't want to use Desert Yellow. Besides it gave me some nice shadows. Next, I'll airbrush the Red Brown splotches for camouflage. Hello- Apologies if I posted this before -but it appeared again in my "what is it?" pile. AI thinks it's British, but crown and pin is odd for that. I thought German, but the 925 mark would be unusual. Any thoughts? Thanks! Jerry

Opinions please on these types of RAF ww2 period half wings. Clean example I purchased recently from the UK, comparing with others online it looks as though everyone else is selling with this type of backing, also stitching looks identical to alot of others online present when looking closely. My question to these type of patches experts out there is, Are there a whole bunch of repros getting sold out there as WW2 era RAF wings, or are these legit 30s/40s manufacturing techniques on display here. I have a book at home that i will be looking at tonight for some more answers, but please take a look and maybe compare to your own versions at home. The Hall marks are as follows left to right; First the maker which I cannot make out at all, second the lion means it is sterling, third I think is a harp if so it is for Dublin, and forth the letter k means it was made in 1905.

Congratulations!! The book looks fantastic! The North Koreans and Chinese fought bravely. I thought the movie The Battle at Lake Changjin was good and gave a perspective that does not get heard enough. I hope your book does well!!

Of course. Jane's is military. But interesting question you raise. I have a hard believing they surpass soviet/russian quality, its always been such a durable rifle. But i do feel like the Norinco SKS/MAC90 receive are recognized as quality weapons when, at least as I saw it, they were called junk and cheap Chinese knock offs. China manufacturing has improved dramatically in many areas over the last decade or two, but in retrospect I believe Norico was making quality guns back in the early 90's that were relatively inexpensive.

Doesn't have any info for that rifle, it mainly has military rifles listed. Something I saw noted in another book about the Chinese sks, is that it's mainly the design that makes it tough. I wonder if the original Russian ones or the versions made in other countries are higher quality or not.

What is the purpose of having the same information twice on one tag? Do they break in half? What happens to the dogs tags when a soldier becomes a casualty? great find btw!!

Posted a few here and seems no one collects them or knows info on them hope I got better luck this time. The history this one could tell being from 1905. Any info like from mint marks with just initials ID the sailor would be tough.
