White Pith Helmet with Royal Highlanders Black Watch Insignia piercing front shell. Label states "made In England" with lion, may be Christies. Any suggestions to date and provenance? I have more pictures. will post on additional post.

I’m not sure about this one seems to be modern made with a WW 2 badge attached, it was against regulations to poke holes in these helmets which is why some badges had slider attachments to fit onto the puggaree. The Black Watch wore a red hackle of feathers on the left side instead of the cap badge.9AE1A263-4DEC-4675-97BA-02140A235231.jpeg.7576603abcff5467450c0f8d39aa150a.jpeg

I guess your right as it being against regulation to pierce the shell etc. although according to Stuart Bates, author of the "The Wolseley Helmet," this rule was observed as much in the breach as in the observance. It looks too used to be a modern repro. and too authentic in its manufacture with puggaree, makers label and mechanism of offset of sweatband.  Could it be genuine 19thCentury, pre-Wolseley issue? Thanks again.

Laurence

Beautiful helmut!  I have Cotswold of British at Roark's Drift.  I loved the movies Zulu when i first saw it as a kid and still watch it from time to time.  The Martini was state of the art at the time and a work of art for all time IMO.

Thanks for the input. Do you think it is genuine 19th Century or a later repro. I think genuine. Laurence

PS One of my favorite movies.
