Some more AK pouches from my collection, this time Romanian. Something that I think was unique to Romania was they made a 2 cell variant of the traditional AK pouch (only other country I can think of doing something similar was East Germany, but their AK mag pouch design was distinct from the traditional AK mag pouch style that other Warsaw Pact countries made) Anyways here I have two 2 cell's and one 3 cell pouch (more or less a copy of the original Soviet design). The first 2 are fairly high quality (when it comes to combloc quality standards) however the last pouch on the end is a lot worse quality and a lot flimsier and softer in material. Almost have to wonder if it was made for export to other militaries or for foreign civilian markets.

Don't see a post like this, so here are mine. I think the first one is the earliest variant for the AKM. Mainly cause of the lack of oil bottle pouch. 2nd is another for the AKM I assume. This one has the pouch for the oil bottle. Last pouch is for the AK74. I think these are supposed to use the newer plastic oil bottles.

An interesting book about the end of WW2 and the Berlin Occupation Period and East Germany is called: The Iron Men by Leonard B Scott. I had the privilege of meeting Colonel Scott when he was stationed in Berlin in the 80's and his assignment in Berlin during that time led him to write this book. Colonel Scott is also the author of "Charlie Mike", "The Last Run", "The Expendables", "The Hill" and other books mostly centered around the Vietnam War. The IRON MEN: It intertwines the fate of WW2 German Paratroopers with the SS who set out to kill them for falling back during the last battle for Berlin. The paratroopers and one particular SS man survive only to be sent to Russian POW camps. The paratroopers vowed to get revenge on the SS man. The SS man is recruited by the Soviets and becomes one of the organizers of the STASI in East Germany. Once released from Soviet Prison camps, One of the former paratroopers lives in East Germany, the other in West Germany... Fast forward to 1980s Berlin in the US Sector and a US Colonel who falls in love with the daughter of one of the former paratroopers gets involved with the mission to kill the Stasi officer in East Berlin... It is a great story. Leigh

Sometime in the Summer of 1942 we should think. Red Soldiers examine an Italian Flag that fell into their hands.

One Major General Hans Kissel wears a custom made M44, Kissel's we see has Scalloped Pocket Flaps with Pleated Pockets with a Field Grey Collar, unlike Benicke who has a Bottle Green one. When this 1945 photo was taken, Kissel, he was Chief of the Command Staff of the Volkssturm in Berlin, which apparently was under the SS Hauptamt, SS man Gottlob Berger was the Chief of Staff it seems. We gather Kissel was captured by the Reds in Berlin, apparently catching a break, apparently gets let go in 1947

Japanese helmets are great. Thanks for posting. Dave -
Try Bison superglue gel. It´s available at our local "Action" store, which is a Netherland discounter if memory serves right.

kamov52 replied to Dammen026's topic in RUSSIA - 1991 TO PRESENT (Post-Soviet)
this medal is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the 987 mine-torpedo aviation regiment (987-ая минно-торпедный авиационный полк(987МРАП)) of the Red Banner Northern Fleet (краснознаменный северный флот(КСФ)), which was stationed at Severomorsk-3 airfield and consisted of 29 Tu-16 bomber aircraft, which is depicted on this medal, a medal of the period of the Russian Federation.
