Thor996 Posted October 24, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted October 24, 2018 This is what I have been told and what I have been able to research: it is a parachute packing log and it is made of oilcloth. Those are the notations in it showing when it was packed/put on the plane for the missions it flew by dates. Printed on blue oilcloth to make it strong and weatherproof. The cover has the specific information on the parachute and the unit. The inside pages give spaces for the packer to stamp their ID and add pertinent information. It looks like this parachute was packed a couple of times. This one would have been packed for a plane, not an airborne infantry jumper. There are quite a few entries during the war from 1943-1945. So this saw some action. The last entry is 5/23/1945- note that in Europe that's 23/5/45- a funny coincidence on that date is that is the same day Himmler committed suicide.
