triplecanopy Posted October 31, 2018 #1 Posted October 31, 2018 I am told that this is an Afrika Corps belt and buckle. This buckle is made of steel and has a J.F.S. marking that is hard to see. Both the belt and buckle are in excellent condition. The tab is dated 1941.
triplecanopy Posted October 31, 2018 Author #2 Posted October 31, 2018 Here are the last two photos of the Afrika Corps Belt and Buckle. From the condition, I don't believe that this set saw much use.
doyler Posted November 5, 2018 #3 Posted November 5, 2018 A tropical set and commonly called AK. Great item and condition is super.
Bugme Posted November 20, 2018 #6 Posted November 20, 2018 Outstanding condition! Great addition to any DAK collection.
RRA227 Posted November 20, 2018 #7 Posted November 20, 2018 This belt is size 88 and dated 1942 and the buckle is 1942 and CTD marked. Other has cloth tab. Rich A. in Pa.
DocCollector1441 Posted November 20, 2018 #8 Posted November 20, 2018 The photo of OPs buckle looks standard feldgrau to me, but I cannot tell if it is just the way the color is coming out on my computer screen. With the leather tab, I would just consider that a standard buckle on a tropical belt, but of course the standard buckles with leather tabs were used in Africa, the Mediterranean, and Southern Russia on tropical belts. The web tabs that are on Rich A's buckles is something I would more closely associate with a true tropical buckle.
RRA227 Posted November 20, 2018 #9 Posted November 20, 2018 tripplecanopy,Different colour buckles with leather tabs like yours. Rich A. in Pa.
triplecanopy Posted December 1, 2018 Author #10 Posted December 1, 2018 Glad to see others. Very nice examples. Thanks for sharing.
Gwar Posted April 19, 2020 #13 Posted April 19, 2020 Never consider a Heer buckle tropical unless it has a web tab, the paint coloring is to be found on a array of buckles.
spag199th Posted January 26, 2021 #14 Posted January 26, 2021 Very nice tropical/dak buckle and belt. Love to see them together.
