ww1czechlegion Posted July 15, 2019 #1 Posted July 15, 2019 Hello, I finally found something out of the woodwork that I've wanted for many years. A real, not messed with Prussian General's Pickelhaube. The photos are from the seller at an estate sale with no other military items. The last photo shows the helmet sitting in a paper sack reserved for me, waiting to be mailed out on Saturday the 13th. I can post more photos when it arrives in the mail in a few days. It has the correct fluted spike for a Prussian General, the square cut front visor, and the curved/rounded chinscales, all indicative of a general's helmet. The massive Guard Eagle's wings sweep halfway back on each side of the helmet. Needless to say, I can't wait for it to arrive! Best Regards, Alan
SARGE Posted July 15, 2019 #2 Posted July 15, 2019 Alan, Congratulations on your estate sale find! I love untouched stuff like this that comes out of private houses. I look forward to seeing more photos of your helmet when you get it.
themick Posted July 15, 2019 #3 Posted July 15, 2019 A magnificent helmet, Alan. Congratulations!! Steve
ww1czechlegion Posted July 19, 2019 Author #10 Posted July 19, 2019 Thanks for all of your very nice comments gentlemen, I appreciate it! Helmet has arrived safe and sound, and I'll try to shoot some photos of it next week when I get a day off from work again. Best Regards, Alan
JohnS3rd Posted March 4, 2020 #11 Posted March 4, 2020 I'm late to the party but yes this is a super find. Thanks for posting.
Ken Crane Posted August 15, 2020 #12 Posted August 15, 2020 Beautiful helmet! While not in my collecting area, I've always loved the Imperial era helmets.
patches Posted August 24, 2020 #15 Posted August 24, 2020 Amazing! Note that heavy embossed center, one always sees it protruding when generals (And the Kaiser and other Princes of Prussia) who wore a Guards one wore their Covers.
anton67 Posted January 15, 2021 #16 Posted January 15, 2021 Where was the estate sale (general area)? Just curious where it ended up. Any background on the previous owner?
Bugme Posted January 19, 2021 #17 Posted January 19, 2021 These are the type of stories that collector dreams are made of. Nice find, Congrats!
