This set of boards were worn by a Colonel of the White Russian Army who escaped to Cyprus in 1920.Why do they have the star and half moon on them.Thanks for your time and your answer.Scotty

This is a bit late for response, but I only just saw your post here.

That crescent moon and star symbol was used by the Ottoman Army, as you can see on this pair of epaulette.

So far, I'm not coming up with any Imperial Russian uniforms that included that, but this is a start, and I will continue to look!

I don't know about the star and crescent but the shoulder board may be for one of the Cossack Hosts, there were Muslim Cossacks I believe.
