gwb123 Posted July 12, 2020 #1 Posted July 12, 2020 To get the thread started... a pair of British Army Land Rovers in Germany circa 1982. The one in the rear is the classic Land Rover Defender, and the one in front is a more specialized design. In front of them is a nondescript US Army minivan, of which I spent several bumpy rides in. The Land Rovers have the classic black and green camouflage typical of the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR).
Proud Kraut Posted July 19, 2020 #2 Posted July 19, 2020 Nice picture! Looks like a command post or signal LR variation.
917601 Posted August 19, 2020 #3 Posted August 19, 2020 I have had this one for twenty years or so.....just repainted it and put the Brownig in the turret for a nice hour at the range.
917601 Posted August 19, 2020 #4 Posted August 19, 2020 I will add I did not use the correct paint color, I used my favorite 1944 OD, instead of that nasty British Forrest green semi gloss ( yes, semi gloss was MoD correct) and I left off the flat black disruptive stripes. Here is a better picture after I painted the wheel rims and touched up the turret hatch.
917601 Posted August 20, 2020 #5 Posted August 20, 2020 Another one of the turret. I was lucky to have the grenade launchers, spotlight, MG cradle and periscope intact.
Paul Cooke Posted August 21, 2022 #7 Posted August 21, 2022 What a fantastic thing. Not sure how I wasn’t aware of this variant. very envious!
