Boy Howdy Posted April 26, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2021 Picked this up yesterday. $10.00 It is about the size of a WW 2 Victory medal. What is it? Thank you.
stratasfan Posted April 26, 2021 Share #2 Posted April 26, 2021 Boy, while I can't help with an ID . . . that is the coolest thing I've seen in ages! Wish I'd find one at a sale around here! I'd guess it is something commemorative or souvenir or fundraising when American joined the UK in the fight. Thanks for sharing!
Boy Howdy Posted April 26, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted April 26, 2021 You are quite welcome. When I saw the Evil Pinwheel on the Dragon I just had to have it.
Mr.Jerry Posted May 14, 2021 Share #4 Posted May 14, 2021 Could just be a patriotic/religious medal- St.George is the patron saint of soldiers. Great piece!

numbersix Posted December 5, 2021 Share #6 Posted December 5, 2021 This medal was issued in 1941 to raise funds for the British-American Ambulance Corps. The front, with Saint George, was designed by Mario Korbel and the back, with the American Eagle, was designed by Paul Manship. British-American Ambulance Corps were an American volunteer organisiation operating from 1940-1942. It raised funds to purchase and equip medical and dental ambulances for the allied war effort, World War Two.

numbersix Posted December 9, 2021 Share #8 Posted December 9, 2021 Welcome, glad I could help; it was intersting finding out about the artists. Mario Korbel also designed a medal for Czechoslovakia for the 1939 New York World's Fair which is also quite striking. Below is the front of the Czechoslovakia Medal:
