patches Posted August 25, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2021 What s this a weapon, I drawing a blank, a rare late war weapon this SS Reenactor is using?
numbersix Posted August 25, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2021 It's a fliegerfaust, I don't think it was ever much more than a prototype design. The re-enactor looks like he is doing a speculative impression, his camouflage is the 45 pattern that I don't think was widely issued either. As an aside, I have heard that the East German steel helmet is based on a WW2 design that was to be fielded by the Germans in 1945/46.
Jack the Collector Posted August 25, 2021 Share #3 Posted August 25, 2021 Is that Craig Gottlieb with yet another showoff toy?
Proud Kraut Posted August 25, 2021 Share #4 Posted August 25, 2021 Numbersix is spot-on. The name of the camouflage pattern is "Leiber-Muster". It was intend to replace all other camo patterns of Wehrmacht and Waffen SS but was only issued in small numbers in spring 1945. You are right with the East German helmet as well. The NVA helmet M56 was based on a Wehrmacht prototype helmet M45 which wasn´t introduced.

numbersix Posted August 26, 2021 Share #6 Posted August 26, 2021 Welcome, glad I could help. I had heard about the planned 45/46 pattern German kit in conversation with an older collector back in the 90s; when all the DDR stuff suddenly appeared so it's nice to have that confirmed! Thank you.
