Hello! I appreciate the time and I can wait for the added knowledge from those before me, I’m rather young and therefore have missed out on the days of plentiful and affordable finds. Nonetheless making the ones I do come across that much more awesome. Excited to learn and get guidance, particularly with German stuff. Any pointers for enthusiasts starting in the past couple years is appreciated

Preppy Picker

Welcome aboard. I’ve been collecting quite some time and still collect today and I must say that they might not be as plenty but there are still great deals to be had.

Welcome!

There are still many things still out there

and we were just talking about this- stuff is still cheaper today than it will be in 5-10 years...

I wish I could go back even 5 years and buy up some of the stuff I passed on.

a few words of advice with German stuff-

1.) know who you are dealing with

2.) collect what you like, not what others say is cool

3.) try and specialize in an area- this will save your resources for when you find what you really want

4.) quality is better than quantity

5.) invest in some reference books-

6.) get to shows and handle real pieces

7.) don't discount the common items - everyone wants a Knight's cross, but EK2's were what most German soldiers were awarded (and were very proud of)

8.) network with other collectors ( you are already doing that here!)

9.) have fun with it!
