easterneagle87 Posted January 15 Share #1 Posted January 15 Got this in a group of photos. I believe this shot to have been taken in the US. It's a WW2 British bomber. I think it is a Halifax bomber. But the top turret on the back is farther back than pictures I've seen. Something rings in my head as I think I've seen this shot before. I think it is from a famous visit to the US. Any further info appreciated. Link to comment

T BIRD Posted April 24 Share #5 Posted April 24 THE EARLY LANC'S HAD THE TURRET BACK FARTHER THAN THE LATER MkVII AND MkX. IT HAD TO DO WITH THE LATER TURRET'S BEING HEAVIER. SO IT GOT MOVED FORWARD SOME FOR LONGITUDINAL BALANCE. THE EARLIER HALIFAX HAD WAIST TURRET'S AND LATER HAD A DORSAL TURRET; AS FOR THE PICTURE; IT IS A NICE ONE. BEST; T BIRD Link to comment
