Hi trixie123. This is a screen shot from Chelsea: Pensioners' Discharge Documents 1760-1887 showing a F Dovey enlisting into the 1st Battalion Dragoon Guards in March 1887 referring to page 571. Considering the name is not that common it could be him. I will pm you the whole page. Gunner Link to comment
Gunner87 Posted April 4 Share #3 Posted April 4 Hi trixie123, My apologies, I think we should cancel te above as it is F Dovey enlistment into the Chelsea Pensioners so he has left the Dragoons... Gunner Link to comment
Gunner87 Posted April 4 Share #4 Posted April 4 I've searched Forces War Records DCM database and although don't have an account it would return a hit on the name. albeit without any details. Link to comment
trixie123 Posted April 7 Author Share #5 Posted April 7 i found him on ancestry in medal rolls fighting the Zulus 1879. in 1st kings Dragoons Would he have recieved QSA medal with no bars? I think the ribbon bars might be the sons ? He was wounded on Crete uprising 9-6-1898 he later joins 6 U.S. cavalry. Can’t find anything on him for South Africa ? Link to comment
trixie123 Posted April 7 Author Share #6 Posted April 7 I believe ribbon is for Queens Mediterranean medal ? Same ribbon . He was wounded in 1898 on Crete so I guess aearn of dcm may be from that time ? Link to comment
