 Hi trixie123.

This is a screen shot from Chelsea: Pensioners' Discharge Documents 1760-1887 showing a F Dovey enlisting into the 1st Battalion Dragoon Guards in March 1887 referring to page 571. Considering the name is not that common it could be him.

I will pm you the whole page.

Gunner

Hi trixie123,

My apologies, I think we should cancel te above as it is F Dovey enlistment into the Chelsea Pensioners so he has left the Dragoons...

I've searched Forces War Records DCM database and although don't have an account it would return a hit on the name. albeit without any details.

i found him on ancestry in medal rolls  fighting the  Zulus 1879. in 1st kings  Dragoons

Would he have recieved QSA medal with no bars?

I think the ribbon bars might be the sons ? He was wounded on Crete uprising 9-6-1898

he later joins 6 U.S. cavalry. Can’t find anything on him for South Africa ? 5EBF5519-7C5E-4837-A8F3-587F2814924A.jpeg.d7eeb8a6270be7068d3365d6871c36e1.jpeg

I believe ribbon is for Queens Mediterranean medal ? Same ribbon .

He was wounded in 1898 on Crete so I guess aearn of dcm may be from that time ?
