Is there someone who can tell what kind of unifrom this is, what time period and from what country?

My name is Erik Vaes and I live in Deurne near Antwerp in Belgium.

 

I am a painter of model military figures from different countries and also from different periods.

Currently I'm in contact with a designer who will make me a bust a the French Foreign Legion soldier.

That I will paint it afterwards.

 

I also found a drawing in a magazine, but there was no further information. See attachment.

It was an old magazine about military uniforms.

I think it's a Spanish uniformm based on the colours of the beret and the uniform.

The period ???

The rifle is one that works with black powder and is a single shot rifle.

They look Asian with sandals and a flower on top of the hat.

Appears to be a French Zouave, but the hat is unknown to me.
