Bosley Posted September 28 Share #1 Posted September 28 Hi All, Tried posting a while back on War Relics without much success. Thoughts on this helmet? Does everything look original? Paint? Net? If the net needs to come off to get a better view of the paint, suggestions on that? I'm hesitant to take off due to my lack of familiarity, and honestly my impression is that it is legit, although an initial opinion on War Relics indicated that the net and paint were not original to the helmet. The only markings I'm able to see: Liner - "7 1/4 VERO II 1941" Shell - "RO&CO XF", which runs up against the side of the metal plate for the chin strap attaching piece. On top of that metal plate is "II" Appreciate the help! -Bosley Link to comment
Kia kaha Posted September 30 Share #2 Posted September 30 Looks good to me, very nice mint condition, made by Rubery Owen and Company Ltd from Leeds, and liner made by Everett. W. Vero and Company London. The net is good, but is also in as new condition. I think this helmet was issued but never worn. Link to comment
Bosley Posted Saturday at 02:31 AM Author Share #3 Posted Saturday at 02:31 AM Thanks so much, Kia kaha. This was my uneducated impression, as someone just vaguely familiar with WWI/WWII helmets, so I was a little surprised when the individual on War Relics was questioning the paint/net. Any idea what might have gave them that impression? My understanding is that Rubery Owen and Company was only making these between 1939-1943, so it's cool to be able to date this as a wartime example. Appreciate your help! Link to comment
