Hi, i recently acquired this buckle. Looks Bundeswehr. The framed pebbling, the drab nylon flap but pronged and with a non combat style female hook catch. one small marking inside, which i have tried to show. Thoughts anyone ?  

Hi Sarge, thanks for the welcome.  over the decades i've had all sorts, no fixed passion. A few Stahlhelm, mostly US & UK WW2 uniforms & equipment. At one point i had 16 WW2 Denison smocks and several Mk2 HSATs all WW2 dated. Never had a huge amount at one time as i worked around the globe and tended to enjoy the chase, then sell to fund the next one. Over the last few years i've been winding things down & focus more on my allotment garden, my motorbike, bicycle & walking.  Do you have areas of special interest ? cheers Dave

Thanks for your thoughts gents, it's as i expected.  i bought it thinking "fake" and it cost me half the price of a cheap repro.  i was planning to hammer out the swastika so i could use it on a belt as i like the design so much but then had a moment of self-doubt & thought i better double check lol. Now where's my hammer and anvil ?!  And i should also say that i am glad that my photos will hopefully help other collectors

I have to agree with Sarge, it appears to be a fake unfortunately. Apparently this type was produced in the 60's. Here's a known fake to compare it with.       

These circles look like spot welds to hold the loop on.  I don't like that they show through from back to front.  I also don't like the prongs or the leather tab.   We have some buckle collectors that have more expertise than I.  Let's see what they say.

What are these?

i collect a few buckles. Saw this one and  it   looked good in some ways but ....... only steel Reichsbahn buckles i have seen  seem to have been chrome/ nickel plated. This one shows no signs of ever having been shiny. Stamping looks pretty crisp. Corrosion/dirt seems older than last week. Paper thin leather  tab with poor stitching and  thin leather  .... could that mean late WW2 ? Any insights on this one would be much appreciated.

Interesting. I agree that is very similar to the Lubeck eagle. 

I think the religious tones of this piece are interest. The St. George engraving and the fact this item involves the territory of the "Holy Land" makes me think of that maybe the engraver was thinking of the Crusades?
