Do you have any more information about your grand-uncle? Name, unit, date/location of death, that kind of thing?

A couple more shots from that 1947 Trip.   First in Northern Waters still, then later into Sunny Climes. In the warm weather one, note the two Royal Marines off in the background at attention, I wonder why they're like that, their escort around the ship???

I got this under the impression that it was an old restoration piece. None of the paint is original, but the shell seemed fine (shape, material, weight, vents). Only problem is that there is no visible maker marks or lot numbers. The shell appears to have been sandblasted before being painted. Does it look like an original shell that was restored, or is it an older fake? Thanks in advance.

I always liked this design. Solid piece!

I hope I can also ask for a location here. My grandmothers brother served in the Uk in the second world war and I'm trying to identify where he stayed during that time. Unluckely he didn't survive. If I have to ask this somewhere else in stead of here please say so.
