They are usually just IJN canteens unless they are marked with SNLF unit number or other SNLF info, this also includes helmets and other gear. Officers in the IJN usually carried the same canteens as the EM. But in the IJA, their officers purchased their own canteens along with buying their own gear. There are many different types of IJN canteens, here are a few of mine. -

Badge was on upside down, for what that is worth. I cant speak to originality one way or the other. -

Found this beret with a 2nd REP insignia, in the US recently. What intrigues me is that the casting is kind of rough/low quality and the pin in the back is very different from what I have seen before. I don’t think anybody would fake such common insignia and I was wondering if it could be some sort of insignia made outside the country (Indochina? Algeria? Other?) The green beret is also interesting, as the lining seems to be missing and the 2 holes usually found on the side of this type of beret are missing any help to date this beret and insignia will be appreciated thx F. I should also mention that there is no marking on the insignia -

Hi, Thank you for the information. Also, do I have the ID of the item correct? I have seen these called officer canteens as well as Naval Landing Forces canteens. Best Regards, Fort Susquehanna -

Ein Kaplan, here interestingly wearing an oversize cross not between the top and bottom cockades but on the crown of cap, with top cockade moved to the cap band. -

I don't know the exact meaning, but the letters indicate these things. ・[砲 "Ho-U"] Cannon ・[竜 "Ryu-u"] Dragon ・[一六七九 "1679"] or [六七九 "679"] -

Bottom 3 characters look like 679. Others can't make out -

I just acquired this. I would like the characters translated if possible.
