He's an NCO. I judged by the silver lines on his collar and epaulettes. If he were commissioned officer, his cap chin strap and collar insignia trim would be silver. -

Luftwaffe Sargent, with looks like a flight personnel trade badge, a DRL sports badge and IC ribbon bar. No not an officer.. -

Wasn’t this helmet just posted by another member? I believe it’s authenticity was decided there. -

It's amazing what kind of finds are still out there at estate & yard sales! -

Perhaps it's akin to, in English writing, cursive, as opposed to how younger folks these day "write". More simple than cursive. Steve -

Thank you Mr. Bushido & Mr Jerry. Appreciate your input. Think I purchased a Hinamaru based on your input weeks ago Any Input regarding Katana and/or Japanese swords? I'm thinking about buying one but am concerned about fakes. Understand their are 3 basic types. Seem to hit all price points. Main concern is it is not is post WWII / and not authentic -

I think the note means that it was not the more modern, somewhat simplified Kanji. When I ask exchange student to translate WWII things this is what they call it. Looks wartime to me as well. Nice piece. -
