Nice jacket, a private commission vest - tailor made. I don’t think the scorpion is a unit patch as it is not in the usual orientation, it looks to me to be a personal identification mark. I have a vest similar to this made for a senior N.C.O. So he had enough ammo when driving a vehicle without having to carry/wear belt order webbing.(I will post pictures soon)

I have a dealer offering this badge as a replacement for something lost in the mail.  As far as I can tell, this is totally bogus as the colors are all wrong.  Opinions?

Greetings - I am a new member with an interest in the Bushwars of Southern Africa. I was given this battle vest as a boy during a visit to then Rhodesia over 40 years ago. I was wondering if anyone can help me identify its provenance? (I have a James North of Salisbury Fireforce Vest which I am selling at present, so am well aware that there where much more sophisticated versions of this privately made vest available). It's clearly based on a Rhodesian Army Bush jacket with pockets/pouches from other items of uniform adapted to the role. Also any thoughts on the hand drawn Scorpion? I think there were vehicles used for convoy security called Scorpions?  Any information gratefully received.

I’m no expert either, but the handle does not seem to fit in the lower cross guard, and the upper cross guard looks unfinished.  May be a parts dagger, made up after the war, or perhaps put together from unrelated pieces who knows when.

Hi Enfield experts, I had my eye on this Enfield rifle for a bit. Just wondering if anyone can help me on the possible history on this one.  from my research I’ve been able to compile this: it’s originally British made (most prob Royal small arms factory) in Enfield, hence the stamping. Plus it has a cross swords proof mark from a military ordnance factory, prob original uk.    but there is also some other marks: an OA on the rear sight side….which is apparently a proof mark of Australian Ordnance, which means it’s been refurbed here in Aus at some point.  it also I think has a MA mark on the receiver aswell which also can mean Lithgow arms proof mark.    the serial is Q4088 and all the pieces match numbers, so to me it was not a full FTR and maybe just passed through an Aussie factory for inspection before sent back out, maybe to ww2??   so my question is, why would it have been made in uk then ended up in Aus, and for what purpose.  also has anyone seen all these markings on a rifle like this before, and lastly am I right in my thinking and research of all this😁 any help would be much appreciated.  the pictures included are what I’m sent so some aren’t the best…. I’ve tried to enhance as much as I could.  thanks guys

They are usually just IJN canteens unless they are marked with SNLF unit number or other SNLF info, this also includes helmets and other gear. Officers in the IJN usually carried the same canteens as the EM. But in the IJA, their officers purchased their own canteens along with buying their own gear. There are many different types of IJN canteens, here are a few of mine.
